Aotearoa’s beaches are some of the most sought-after swim spots in the country. But despite their beautiful reputation, their water’s not always safe for swimming in.
Introducing Safeswim, a world-first digital interface that pulls real-time data from our swim spots to give people an accurate, up-to-the-minute reading of the water quality in their location of choice.
Using live science feeds feeding information through water beacons, Daylight worked with Auckland Council to develop a digital ecosystem and web app that creates a live feed of bacteria and safety levels of swim spots around the entire coast of Tāmaki Makaurau, Te Tai Tokerau and Tauranga. To ensure that beachgoers are truly safe, Safeswim has also partnered with Surf Life Saving New Zealand, displaying patrol times and live hazard information across 150+ beaches around the country.
2022 saw the launch of “Decide with Safeswim”, a new platform for Safeswim which has been brought to life through an integrated campaign that pits some of our most iconic swimming spots against each other, tapping into the conversations we all have when deciding where to swim. Drawing inspiration from screen printing, our artworks use abstract shapes and a minimal colour palette, mirroring the simplicity of using the platform to decide where to dip.
The campaign went live across OOH, radio, digital and social.
